Hari & Aruna Sharma from Uppsala University are seen walking on the street of Varanasi downtown area from Beniabagh to Godowalia (ca. 1.5 Kms) to reach another the Autorickshaw station for onward transport to Banaras Hindu University. This 1.5 Km stretch is very busy with roadside shops and vendors selling fruits, vegetables and other items. This is one of the main downtown areas of the Old city of Varanasi combining several lanes to Ghats and Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, teh World famous Golden Temple of Lord Shiva giving “Salvation” to the devotees across the Globe. The term "Salvation" doesn't mean that it only comes after death (by freeing cycles of rebirth). This has a spiritual meaning also. By having Salvation, you are free of your Worldly desires and find peace in what you already have and remain happy. This is still true today to the devotees of Lord Shiva in Varanasi. That’s why the city of Varanasi attracts many people daily from all over the World.
