A peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians must ensure Israel's security and acceptance and lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state, Jordan's King Abdullah said. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Jordan he criticized those who sought to close the door to peace. The King also met with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad on the sidelines of the forum. Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said the Palestinians had rejected an offer from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu who agreed to impose a partial settlement freeze in exchange for a return to negotiations. More than 1,000 people from 50 countries participated in the two day forum held on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea.
