The European Parliament is holding a one week exhibition of drawings based on the story written by Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit "When the shark and the fish first met." Shalit held captive in Gaza since June 2006 when he was abducted in a cross border raid wrote the story when he was 11 years old. The exhibition was inaugurated in a special ceremony on Monday in the presence of senior European and Israeli parliamentary officials. Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin initiated the exhibition and was present at the ceremony with his two deputies Knesset members Ofir Akunis, Ya'akov Edri.and Nahman Shai. The story written by Shalit is about a shark and fish who in spite of their parents opposition lived together in harmony. Gilad is not the subject of the conflict, it is a matter of values shared by the free world, Rivlin said at the ceremony and thanked the European Parliament for agreeing to host the exhibition.
