A research center near Tripoli stocks uranium and other material that could be used to make a nuclear "dirty bomb" and Libya's rebels will need to secure it, a former senior U.N. inspector said on Wednesday. Meanwhile a beleaguered Muammar Gaddafi vowed to fight on to death or victory after rebels forced him to abandon his Tripoli stronghold in what appeared to be a decisive blow against the Libyan leader's 42-year rule. Speaking to a local radio station on Wednesday, the Libyan leader's whereabouts and those of his family remain unknown. The deposed Libyan leader said his withdrawal from his headquarters in the heart of the capital was a tactical move after it had been hit by 64 NATO air strikes and he vowed "martyrdom" or victory in his fight against the alliance. Gleeful rebels ransacked Gaddafi's Bab al-Aziziya bastion, seized weapons and smashed symbols. Others were seen fleeing out of the compound carrying clothing and articles. Mustafa Abdel Jalil head of the National Transitional Council said the country would hold elections in eight months and said Gadhafi when caught would be tried in Libya
