The immense forest fire that has been riding roughshod over Israel's northern area since the morning of Thursday December 2nd is officially over. Nevertheless, firefighting forces are staying put until all slightly burning areas are completely extinguished. The fire which was burning for 82 hours and destroyed nearly 50,000 dunam of pine forests did not seem to be tamed until the US Super Tanker plane arrived on Sunday December 5th. Roughly 17,000 people were evacuated from their homes, including service facilities, hospitals and military jails. Most of them were finally permitted on Monday, December 6th to return home.
