At the request of the International Red Cross, Israel's Magen David Adom ambulance service has been asked to remove the red star of David from its vehicles deployed in Judea and Samaria. Leaders of communities in Judea and Samaria said some of the vehicles sent for repairs returned without the former symbol. The Council of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria accused Magen David Adom of bowing to politics in agreeing to remove the famed symbol from ambulances serving in the area. The leaders said they believe Magen David Adom had agreed to a request by the International Red Cross to stop operating in Judea and Samaria. A statement by the Israeli ambulance service denied the accusations saying it operates two kinds of ambulances: those that are dispatched from its stations and others that operate in communities, villages and kibbutzim that are activated by those communities who also pay the workers' salaries and car repairs.
