The recent stormy weather has brought some good news to Israel's Lake Kinneret which rose 8.5 cm over the weekend, the Water Authority said Sunday. January ended with a single serious storm at the end of the month, and Lake Kinneret rose just 15 cm. Last January, the Kinneret rose 62 cm. However, February began with a prolonged downpour which contributed 8.5 cm to the Kinneret. The 80 mm of rain on the Golan Heights drained down to the Kinneret strongly for a couple of days and then tapered off on Saturday. Despite the favorable rise in the Kinneret's water level over the weekend, the lack of copious rainfall has the Water Authority seriously concerned. Just 68% of the median amount of rain has fallen since the beginning of the rainy season.
