Taiwanese doctor suspended after operating on wrong foot

A doctor who operated on a man injured while playing basketball is in hot water after performing surgery on a patient's uninjured foot. A man injured his right ankle while playing basketball and went into hospital in the Taipei suburb of Linkou for an operation. Despite him repeatedly telling hospital staff they had marked the wrong foot for surgery they still went ahead and operated on the wrong foot. The hospital was forced to pay compensation while the doctor was suspended from performing surgery.
