Snipers kill gunman after Guangzhou standoff

A Chinese man was killed by snipers following a 10-hour standoff which started after he shot a local police deputy commander in the stomach. Officers had arrived at the flat of former soldier Chen Guosheng to serve him an eviction notice following several complaints from his neighbors about noise. But when four officers broke down the door to his apartment Chen shot the policeman in the stomach and then threw a bomb at them although it failed to go off. He was killed at around 8pm by snipers after claiming to have more devices.
