First year students of St. Francis of Assisi Montessori School of Cainta perform a Balagtasan in front of parents during an intermission of the 2011 Parent Teacher Conference.

Balagtasan means poetical joust. Using flowery words, metaphors and rhymes to debate and argue in Tagalog usually in a public setting.

The word Balagtasan was derived from the pen name of one of the greatest Filipino poets of all time, Francisco Balagtas. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Balagtas).
