In this video, attorney David Daggett of Daggett Shuler Law answers the question: How soon should I tell my employer about my injury at work? The law requires you to report your injury at work as soon as possible and within a reasonable amount of time. We recommend that the employee fill out a "notice of injury" form very shortly after the injury occurs. The sooner you put your emplolyer on notice, sooner that the track record of your claim begins building. You want to make sure you comply with the specific time limitations under the law or your claim could be completely barred and you won't be entitled to any compensation at all.
