PSTD is unfortunately very common with those exposed to combat. Even for those who have not been overseas, it could occur as a result of suffering from a sexual assault and is a frequent problem from any kind of threatening injury producing kind of situation. It doesn't show up quickly; in many Vietnam vets it wasn't recognized for quite some time. It's an insiduous problem, but very disabling if untreated over time.
