A regatta is organized yearly in the Hanko, a city at the south point of the Finnish mainland. It is a huge event that turns the city upside down for a weekend. The classic yachts belonging to 6 M R class and to 8 M R class also participate to this event. The boats are 60 to 90 years old but better than new and the competition is merciless. It is a sport for wealthy gentlemen and enthusiasts of old yachts who spend thousands for restoring the old beauties. Many of the boats have famous past owners like the one shown under repair after a collision built for JP Morgan in the US in 1936.
