I am Richard Newton. I own a company called Atelier Weddings in New York, and we plan weddings. One of the most important things in planning a wedding is to find the right vendors. It did not surprise me at all to find out that Pia Toscano had been a wedding singer before she was an American Idol. That is just the caliber that you get in this city. 3 star (unclear) chefs put a surprise wedding, photographers and so forth.
The real trick, however is to make sure that you get the right vendors for you. You have to feel like you really really want to work with those vendors. You are feeling your gut if it is the right ones. And when that is the case, magic can happen.
The only thing that is really important is that once you have picked the great vendors you could use, you want to let them do there best work. You don't want to micro-manage them. You want them to go with it. And again that is how great weddings happen.
