TRANSFER!
directed by Jan Klata

One of the leading Polish directors of younger/middle generation, Jan Klata, explores in Transfer! the consequences of the decisions made at the Yalta Conference, after which a great number of people in the border areas between Germany and Poland were relocated. With professional actors playing Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt, as well as a team of German and Polish dramaturges who shaped the available documentary materials (mainly based on personal testimonies of the participants), Klata bases his performance on the participation of a group of witnesses, people from ordinary life whose destinies were powerfully marked by the mentioned historical events. The musical frame of Transfer! is made of music by the band Joy Division – and the play is a powerful and authentic testimony to the imminent interweaving of the personal and the political.
