The King's Speech has continued its winning streak to be named best ensemble cast at this year's Screen Actors Guild awards, the equivalent of the best picture award at the Oscars.

Colin Firth also picked up the gong for outstanding performance for a male actor in a lead role, fuelling speculation that he will win the best actor Oscar in February.

The British actor described how he had been hoping for more benefits from his SAG membership card, saying: "I used to flash it around, hoping it would get me female attention, and entry into nightclubs and top level government departments, and it did not."

The best actress award went to Natalie Portman for her performance in ballet drama Black Swan, again suggesting that she is on course for her first Oscar win.

29-year-old Natalie dazzled on the red carpet in a white Azarro maxi dress and $2million worth of Tiffany jewels.

The actress's choice of colour seemed to be bang on trend with other stars, including Amy Adams, Lea Michele, Winona Ryder and Eva Longoria, opting for similar tones.
