Keira Knightley to play Princess Diana?

She is a few steps away from British acting royalty, now Keira Knightley is being tipped to land the role of a monarch. The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, 25, is in the frame to play Diana, Princess Of Wales in a movie about her life.
US actress Scarlett Johansson is rumoured to be among the other big names being considered for the lead role, while Dame Helen Mirren is reportedly being lined up to play the Princess' mother Francis Shand Kydd.
In 2008, Keira famously played Georgiana, the fifth Duchess of Devonshire â" the great-great-great-great aunt of Diana. An image of Diana was controversially used to publicise the movie.
Film company Pathe are behind the latest feature about the royal icon, which it's thought will be released in 2011. It is claimed it is being timed to coincide with what would have been Diana's 50th birthday and her son Prince William's rumoured wedding to Kate Middleton.
