Some 300 million people suffer from diabetes world-wide. By 2030, this figure could rise to 435 million. In Germany, many different researchers are working on monitoring the causes of diabetes and how the disease does its damage.We'll tell you about the work being done by researchers at the Technical University in Munich, and get to know some children who are taking part in what's known as the Pre-POINT study. The investigators are feeding insulin powder to children who are genetically predisposed to developing juvenile diabetes to see if this treatment can halt the onset of the disease.
