ICT Technology Gathering Held in Brussels

This is the Information and Communication Technologies 2010. It's organized by the European Commission and hosted by Belgium.
Titled "Digitally Driven," it's the European meeting point for industry, researchers and policymakers.
As part of the EU's 2020 strategy, the "Digital Agenda" forms one of the key initiatives to insure sustainable economic growth amidst the global financial crisis, bringing the benefits of the digital era to all sections of society.
[Yves Leterme, Prime Minister, Belgium]:
"Intensifying cooperation within and between member states and their inhabitants through networking will be of key importance to leverage the efforts of each individual member state towards the EU 2020 targets."
European Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes says ICT increasingly determines the way we live our lives.
[Neelie Kroes, Vice President, European Commission]:
"ICT will transform the way we consume resources, the way we cure and prevent diseases, the way we build our social networks and so on and so forth. And that is the message the public and ministers need to hear loud and clear from the research community. To put it in another wording: Europe's future depends on ICT innovations."
The event was opened by Prince Philippe of Belgium and featured everything from virtual reality, nanotechnology and supercomputing networks to energy efficiency controlling systems and humanoid robots.

"This is iCub, the result of a five year long term European project. Now you can see he's trying to reach a red ball and then trying eventually to grasp it."
iCub is like a four-year-old child and can see, hear and touch, and has 53 motors to move its head and limbs.
More than five thousand researchers and innovators took part in the three-day event.
