DeckExpert Fire Tests The Westcoat ALX Deck System

DeckExpert.com questions the assembly methods used by Westcoat Specialty Coating Systems for the ALX traffic coating system.

Westcoat in their literature claims the product is a Class A and One Hour rated system. ICC-ES recognizes the system only as Class A rated.

Westcoat's recommended assembly method entails the use of "WP-40". They put WP-40 down over the seams of the plywood or for "maximum protection" to put it down over the whole deck...

but the WP 40 isn't part of the ICC recognized system. What would happen if a fire was on top of the deck with WP-40 under it? What would happen to a deck without WP-40 under it with a fire on it?

DeckExpert.com finds out, watch what happens to a smaple with WP-40 on the deck gets burned with an Santa Maria style oak bbq burning away.

ICC-ES doesn't recognize our test, but they know about it...

For the record, ICC does not recognize Westcoat's assembly method using WP-40. ICC only recognizes their ASTM E108 testing. E119 tests, no
