CLEVELAND — When psychiatrist Toni Johnson heard about Mary Rothgery's death in Bay Village over the weekend, she said her heart sank.

"I said not again, here we go again," Johnson said.

Police said Rothgery's husband, Michael, killed her and shot himself. She had filed for divorce and a restraining order in July.

Johnson did not know the couple, but she said the story is one she has heard too many times this summer.

"It speaks very strongly to the intimate partner violence we know occurs in all communities," Johnson said.
