"Today is the third edition of this Marg Chennai Marathon. In terms of participation, it was absolutely fantastic. I personally estimated it was 80,000 and above but I hear people say even it was 100,000 and above and secondly people have come as families.”
Most of the participants took part in the four mile fun-run. Around 8,000 registered for the half marathon.
Athletes from various states in India also participated.
Santosh Patel, a railway employee from the northern state of Uttar Pradesh won first place in the half marathon, while Sunil Kumar, a policeman from Haryana, another north Indian state, came second.
The race was run to herald the theme “My City, My Pride.”
