Controversy as Fernando Alonso leads Ferrari 1-2

FERRARI finished 1-2 in the German Formula One Grand Prix overnight and were then fined $112,000 amid allegations they manufactured a win for Fernando Alonso.

F1 governing body the FIA said the result, which saw Alonso take victory after teammate Felipe Massa allowed him to pass, would stand.

But the team must appear before the FIA's World Council at a date to be set to answer the allegations.

The Italian stable denied ordering Massa, who was leading the race, to slow down and allow Alonso to overtake on lap 49.

Massa was told Alonso was "faster" than him and was asked to confirm he understood the message.

The Brazilian allowd Alonso to overtake and finished second ahead of Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, with the two McLaren drivers, Britons Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, taking fourth and fifth.

Australian Mark Webber was sixth in the seocnd Red Bull.
