Just a Gigolo - Leo Reisman & His Orchestra with vocal refrain, Victor 1929

NOTE: it's interesting, how scarcely the American versions of famous European tangos e.g. Just a Gigolo (also I Kiss Your LIttle Hand Madame) do respect original rhythm versions. They are usually played as foxtrots or slow-foxes. Among European renditions I recall one such case, which was Percival Mackay's recording of "I Kiss Your Little Hand..." - also in the hot foxtrott rhythm. I do not, however, recall any European non-tango version of ":Just a Gigolo". Thanks to such memorable recordings like by the leading Weimar Republic dance orchestras (Marek Weber, Paul Godwin, Dajos Bela, Julian Fuhs etc.) or sung - exclusively, as tango! - by Damia, Berthe Sylva, Daniele Serra, this beautiful song will always remain for Europeans one of best tangos ever composed on the Old Continent.
