The fight against green algae begins in Brittany with record clean-ups in the Saint-Michel-en-Grève (Côtes d'Armor) area where a horse was killed last year when it inhaled hydrogen sulphate emitted by decomposing algae. Beach surveillance, ground pick-up and dredging, professional training for tour guides as well as training for media and local officials are all part of Bretagne’s new battle plan to detangle itself from the algae and reassure worried holiday-makers.
