Obama and Cameron bond over beer and football

David Cameron and Barack Obama have held their first face-to-face talks in Canada.

The British Prime Minister and US President swapped beers from their home countries and confirmed that the 'special relationship' is still alive and well.

Mr Obama said: "We already I think have established a strong working relationship and we are confident that the special relationship is only going to get stronger in the months and years to come."

Mr Cameron revealed that the leaders had talked at length about the Afghan war: "particularly over the issue of Afghanistan, which is the number one foreign policy and security policy priority for my government.

"Making progress this year, putting everything we have into getting it right this year is vitally important this year and we've had very good conversations on that."

The two leaders then left in a helicopter together to fly to Toronto for the G20 summit.
