Jake Gyllenhall and Gemma Arterton have been defending their new video game movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Historically, movies based on video games have not been big success stories, but Jake thinks that is about to change:
"The mistake that has been made is that a lot of film makers have tried to mimic the video game itself so there was no sense of reality and the action wasn't based on the storyline. This one we decided would have to be different to the video game in many ways."
Gemma says a good story is key: "The script is great. The story is the strength and the characters. All of the other things, the special effects, the stunts, they add to that."
Director, Mike Newell did not worry about the potential critics: "I just thought it would be wonderful to have a go at a great big story."
There are rumours that the film could be developed into a series with Prince of Persia already being tipped to be the big blockbuster of the summer.
