Fulham are preparing to face Hamburg in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.
At a news conference at the stadium in the German city, coach Roy Hodgson said the bus journey was not ideal for the team but they had time to prepare for the match.
"It will be a lot harder for us because of two days on the bus, it is not ideal preparation for such an important game, but we have tonight and all day tomorrow to continue preparations. I hope we play a good game, we face a strong team," he said.
Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer added that the difficult journey together had brought the team closer.
He said: "They say a long journey can divide a team or bring it together, I believe it was a good journey and we will be united because of this."
Fulham have had to travel by train under the English Channel due to the flight disruptions from the volcanic ash spreading from Iceland, and the semi-finals of a major European competition represents uncharted waters for the west London club.
