Piers Morgan lays into Ashley Cole

Piers Morgan has spoken out about his dislike of Cheryl Cole's husband Ashley.

Piers, who is a friend of Cheryl's revealed to The Sun newspaper that he has been "advising" her to leave footie star Ashley for years and called him a "treacherous little git."

Piers said that Ashley "is never going to change his spots" and reckons "the way he's been treating Cheryl is terrible."

The Britain's Got Talent judge is currently trying to persuade 26-year-old Cheryl to follow in the footsteps of her X Factor co-stars, Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue, by appearing on his ITV show Life Stories.

Meanwhile, Coleen Rooney has revealed that she has spoken to the Girls Aloud singer since her split from Ashley and said she is "doing well".

In the past, Coleen, who is married to Wayne Rooney, has had to deal with her own private life coming under scrutiny and said it is tough living in the public eye when all you want to do is deal with things behind closed doors.

Coleen added that she and Cheryl stay in touch via text message and described Cheryl as "just so nice."
