After weeks of promoting The Bounty Hunter, Gerard Butler is back on the red carpet - this time for the L.A. premiere of his new 3D animation How To Train Your Dragon.
Butler voices the character of a Viking leader named Stoick who spends his time keeping his seaside village safe from dragon attacks.
But after years spent fighting the huge reptiles, Stoick begins to see the fire-eating beasts in a different light when his son Hiccup befriends one.
Speaking about the animation's message, 40-year-old Butler says: "I love that the message behind the story is that danger does not always lurk in places you think it does. And sometimes there is a lot of love that lies behind it as well if we just give it a chance."
Canadian actor Jay Baruchel voices Stoick's misunderstood teenage son Hiccup with Ugly Betty star America Ferrera playing his love interest and friend Astrid.
How To Train Your Dragon is based on a book by British author Cressida Cowell and is out at the end of March.
