Deadly Stampede in Uttar Pradesh, India

Today, more than 30 people were killed in a stampede at a temple in Uttar Pradesh, India. Some of the victims were women and children.
The stampede began when hundreds of people panicked after a wooden gate collapsed.
As the gate came down, most people tried to escape through a narrow passage. Many tripped and fell, and were crushed by the panicking crowd. Some were also crushed under the falling gate.
Local residents and police brought the injured to nearby hospitals.
