The Convent of the Recoleta was built by the Franciscan order in 1647.. .. in Perus second largest city, Arequipa, in the neighborhood of Antiquilla.
It contains several cloisters, a huge library of more than 20,000 rare books, and museums featuring religious art, the Amazon and Pre-Columbian artifacts.
It also houses a gallery of paintings from the Cusco School of religious art.
