"United we can fight against these pandemic diseases, which represent a plague for the entire world, for Benin, for Africa, but also for Europe, and so I am full of hope, and this is the message that I wanted to send."

On Wednesday, Bruni-Sarkozy and Melinda Gates, representing the Bill Gates Foundation, were scheduled to visit a hospital in the village of Dangbo, about 62 miles from the capital Cotonou.
