South Korean Speed Skaters Train for Olympic Gold

South Korea's national speed skating team is training hard to capture as many gold medals as possible at the upcoming Vancouver Winter Olympics. The country has a reputation for collecting gold medals in short-track speed skating at major international competitions.

[Kim Ki-hoon, Coach, National Speed Skating Team]:
"The 1,500M is the most competitive event for men's short track skating. Since we've traditionally won many gold medals in the 1,500M skating, we feel like it's our mission to win gold medals in the game."

The athletes have been training to enhance their physical endurance and improve their skating speed.

For some, the games could be the first and last as getting on the team has proved to be very tough.

[Cho Hae-ri, Speed Skater]:
"As this might be the first and last Olympics for me, I will do my best and play the game with no regrets."

In the past, South Korea has won 17 Winter Olympic Gold medals, all in short track skating. The 2006 Turin Games provided to be the nation's biggest win, with six gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
