A Republican setback in the US midterm elections has exposed a divide within Donald Trump's camp. Vice President JD Vance attributed the electoral defeat to the ongoing war in Iran, rising living costs, and voter dissatisfaction. While acknowledging that the conflict drove up short-term gasoline prices and affected poll outcomes, Trump maintained he would strike Iran again to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, Democrats, having secured control of Congress, have pledged to challenge the administration's agenda and focus on making life more affordable for everyday Americans, leaving questions over whether Trump will reconsider his military policy or escalate action.

00:00Now, focusing on the midterm elections in America, Republican midterm setback is clearly exposing a growing divide within the Trump
00:08camp.
00:09J.D. Vance claims the Iran war, rising prices, voter anger.
00:12Trump admits West Asia conflict hurt the party, but insists he would strike again to stop Iran from going nuclear.
00:19With Democrats now ready to challenge his agenda, the big question is, will Trump change course?
00:30Success is many fathers. Failure is an orphan.
00:35After the drubbing in the midterm polls, Republican Party leaders are washing their hands of the debacle.
00:42Vice President J.D. Vance, who hopes to run for president in 2028, posted a long message on X, blaming
00:49the war on Iran for the defeat.
00:51And I quote,
00:53The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
00:59If you would like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next six years was
01:04worth it, then do so.
01:06Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Unquote.
01:10He claimed, quoting an unnamed poster, Republican voters wanted the Trump administration to end the war,
01:18focus on cost of living inflation, put America first and change U.S. relationship to Israel.
01:26President Donald Trump himself seemed to agree the war may have cost them the elections.
01:30But he appeared unfazed as he took journalists on a tour of the White House ballroom, which is under construction.
01:39Largely true because it drove the gasoline up a little bit short term.
01:44And probably that's probably it's true.
01:47But at the same time, if I had it to do again, I'd have to do it again because long
01:50term, it's the only answer.
01:52You can't let Iran have a nuclear war.
01:55So will Trump end the war with a deal or strike Iran again?
01:58There are no easy answers.
02:01Does ending the war in Iran mean winning the war in Iran?
02:06Doubling down?
02:07President Bush, after a very bad midterm in 2006, doubled down with the surge in Iraq.
02:14Ended up being quite successful and in many ways embraced by the Obama administration after.
02:19That could be an option for the Trump administration.
02:22The Democrats who seized control of Congress are looking to give Trump a tough time.
02:27To everyday Americans who want us to bring about dramatic change and make their lives more affordable.
02:35We hear you, we see you, we feel you, and we're committed to making life better for you.
02:44Tehran had earlier threatened to retaliate if the U.S. water strike Iran.
02:49All depends on how Trump reacts to the midterm verdict.
02:54Will he see it as a message to change course or try to bomb his way out of the mess?
