02:37Unfortunately for Sami, a happy ending is not guaranteed.
02:48This is perhaps the most vulnerable that Roman Reigns has ever been.
02:56He looks naked out here without the rest of the bloodline, which has imploded in recent weeks.
03:04And he has over 17,000 people, an entire city and an entire nation against him.
03:19And Roman wouldn't want it any other way, Cole.
03:24Roman Reigns is operating in God mode.
03:29Roman realizes that the whole world is against him tonight.
03:33And Roman is savoring the opportunity to play the role of Dream Crusher tonight.
03:42Roman is a man who offered Sami Zayn paradise.
03:46And for his troubles, received a dagger in the back.
03:50I expect tonight to be the fight of Sami Zayn's life, but ultimately a very public, very painful punishment by
04:00the tribal chief.
04:00It's not paradise if you're used and abused.
04:03Let's go.
04:05Let's go.
04:29Why is it?
04:41You have to appreciate Roman Reigns using the champion's prerogative to make his
04:46entrance first.
04:48Roman is going to stand in the ring and make Sami stare into the Lions then.
04:52Make sure Sami knows exactly what he got himself into.

08:03Yeah.
08:33The following contest scheduled for
08:35one fall is for
08:37the undisputed WWE
08:40Universal Championship.
08:50Introducing the challenger
08:52from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
08:57Weighing in at 212 pounds,
09:02Sami Zayn!
09:26And his opponent, accompanied to the ring by his special counsel,
09:32the wise man, Paul Heyman, from Pensacola, Florida.
09:38Weighing in at 265 pounds,
09:41he is the undisputed WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion,
09:53Roman Reigns!
10:14Sami Zayn grew up just down the road from Montreal in Lavelle, Quebec.
10:19He debuted in this building, the Bell Center.
10:23His WWE debut was here eight years ago.
10:27And tonight, the biggest match of his entire career.
10:31In front of his wife, in front of his father, in front of his brothers,
10:35in front of 17,000 countrymen in Montreal.
10:40Is it probable? Hell no!
10:43Is it possible? Hell yes!
10:46Can Sami Zayn take down the king tonight?
10:57And here we go, one of the biggest moments,
11:00one of the biggest match-ups this city has ever seen.
11:04Roman Reigns looking to weather the emotional storm of Sami Zayn.
11:10and put him in his place.
11:13put him in his place.
11:16Put him in his place!
11:23let's go!
11:59There are very few moments where the stars align like this.
12:04This moment in time, one of the most emotional nights in WWE.
12:27And this will be a true test of the champ's resolve.
12:29I don't think Roman Reigns, over these two and a half years as champion Corey, has never
12:35been in this type of a hostile environment.
12:36When you are a global superstar, the caliber of Roman Reigns, you almost never play an away
12:43game.
12:43Tonight, hometown advantage, home field advantage clearly belongs to Sami Zayn and Sami Zayn
12:50only.
12:51Tonight, the Island of Relevancy may be the loneliest place in the world.
13:11Sami Zayn and over 17,000 members of the WWE Universe reminding Roman Reigns that this
13:18is in fact Sami Zayn's house.
13:21Okay, time to get down to business now.
13:22This is for the end of being a WWE Universal Championship.
13:27Roman Reigns looks to outpower Sami Zayn, outfinesse Sami Zayn in this matchup.
13:36And a shoulder tap.
13:39For Sami Zayn, it is important to strike early.
13:43Not allow Roman Reigns to take the crowd out of this moment.
13:51You are 100% accurate in that assessment, Cole.
13:55Sami's not gonna have many windows of opportunity, but he must capitalize on all of them.
14:01What Sami has to do is continue to provide hope to the sellout crowd in Bell Center.
14:17And Sami Zayn right now goes into a side headlock of his own, looks to wear down the champ.
14:25Listen, all the respect that Sami Zayn has for Roman to this point is based on fear.
14:30Sami has witnessed firsthand the cruelty Roman Reigns is capable of.
14:35Unfortunately for Zayn, tonight, he may experience the wrath of the Tribal Chief
14:40like he's never had to before.
14:44And a high elbow by Roman Reigns,
14:47and right to the bridge of the nose of Sami.
14:49Establish dominance early, and work your pace.
14:53And now Roman reminding the people that he is pulling the strings,
15:00that Reigns is the puppet master.
15:04Oh, Roman Reigns said it, everyone thinks you're the guy until you meet the guy.
15:20No acknowledgement here tonight for the Tribal Chief.
15:38He reigns with a side headlock again.
15:49Sami, Sami Zayn's rolling, he reigns over the top.
15:52And Zayn surprising the champ.
15:57Sami Zayn gonna fly down those rings.
16:05Make him believe, Sami.
16:15And the champion's stunned.
16:18Sami Zayn realizes, champion's advantage.
16:21He only wins if he pins or submits reigns.
16:24See Roman clutching in his left ear.
16:26The champion's equilibrium may have been thrown off greatly from that attack on
16:31the outside courtesy of the challenger Sami Zayn, who begins to reign down rights.
16:36Three, four, five, six, seven, eight, five, ten, one, one, two, one.
16:44Sami Zayn unloading on Roman.
16:49The longer the match goes, the longer Sami sticks around, the more he believes.
16:53The more confidence he gains.
16:57Zayn, elbow takes down the champ.
16:59First cover of the matchup, hook of the leg.
17:01Now, Sami knew he was getting Roman there, but
17:03that was to send a bit of a message to the champion.
17:06Now, you're absolutely right.
17:07In every pinfall attempt, forces your opponent to kick out, to exert additional energy.
17:11And I am not yet convinced that Reigns is okay.
17:14Roman Reigns, after the Sami Zayn dive to the outside, stood up holding his ear.
17:19And you could see it on Roman's face, he's off balance right now.
17:22I don't think he's okay mentally either, Corey.
17:25We've talked a lot in recent weeks about the paranoia, about the walls closing in.
17:29Roman Reigns, but there's a right hand dropping Sami Zayn.
17:36Reigns bought himself some valuable time with the uppercut.
17:39Roman has everything to lose tonight.
17:42Well, listen, but Sami Zayn also has a lot to lose, Michael.
17:46Well, there's a great deal of pressure on Sami tonight.
17:49While the WWE Universe, particularly in Montreal, is firmly behind Sami Zayn.
17:54Think of how Sami's gonna feel if he doesn't do the job.
17:59If Sami comes up short-term, he is going to let down millions of people.
18:03Drive by by Reigns.
18:05And that's gotta be weighing on Sami as well.
18:08And I'll do you one better.
18:09This is Sami's life's work.
18:11Sami Zayn has dedicated his life to this business.
18:14Dreaming and getting to this point once.
18:17And once may be all he ever gets.
18:20Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn!
18:23For the same pressure that's propping up Sami Zayn,
18:25could be the same pressure weighing him down.
18:28Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn!
18:43Didn't even stun Roman.
18:45Just insulted the champion.
18:47Come on!
18:48Well, you used the word insulted.
18:51Come on!
18:51I think Roman Reigns is insulted.
18:54I've heard about this all week, and that's all you got?
18:58Is a couple of Sami chants?
19:01I think Roman's insulted with the fact that he even has to be in the ring with Sami Zayn here
19:05today.
19:06Certainly seems to be the case.
19:08Roman addressing the WWE fans here in Montreal, saying that's all you got.
19:12Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns!
19:19We're talking about Sami too.
19:20Sami trying to fight back, top of the reigns.
19:22Sami again, another chop.
19:23Sami with a third, Roman is back on his heels.
19:27And a right hand stops Sami in his tracks.
19:30You know, it's been an emotional week for Sami.
19:33He's been here in Montreal.
19:35And that had to take a lot out of him.
19:38I mean, from a mental perspective, coming into this match with Roman.
19:42I don't know that I've ever encountered anybody in this business who utilizes their
19:46emotions to their own benefit quite like Sami Zayn.
19:50Sami Zayn is an emotional human being, and that is part of the reason why he is at
19:54this point in his career.
19:56What Reigns needs to do is figure out how to use Sami's own emotions against him.
20:03I wanted you to be a part of my family.
20:06I wanted to help provide for you.
20:09I wanted you to like to feel better now.
20:11Roman is talking to Sami's wife at ringside.
20:20Now continuing to punish Sami.
20:23Roman knows exactly what he's doing.
20:33Roman is pulling the strings.
20:36Roman is calling the shots.
20:37In a matter of minutes, Roman Reigns has reminded the WWE Universe.
20:48This is never meant to be like this.
20:50I want you to understand.
20:52I didn't do this.
20:53Why didn't you pardon you guys?
20:54This is his fault.
20:55It's his fault.
20:56You understand me?
20:57It's his fault.
20:58It's your fault.
20:59It's your fault.
21:01Get up, get up.
21:04Get up Sami!
21:07I wanted this!
21:08No you didn't!
21:09I wanted this!
21:10No.
21:11He loved it!
21:14Come on!
21:15Come on!
21:18Come on!
21:20Come on!
21:20He's gonna stop!
21:21Continuing to punish Sami in front of his family.
21:25And it's just the opposite of what this is all about.
21:27He's not going to fight!
21:30The Tribal Chief was betrayed.
21:33He's gonna kick his feet down.
21:36He's gonna kick his feet down.
21:37He's gonna kick his feet down.
21:38He's gonna kick his feet down.
21:39He's gonna kick his feet down.
21:43You're gonna take out, you're gonna try to take out the man at the top,
21:47you better take him out.
21:49Come at the king, you best not miss.
21:52You're absolutely right.
21:57This is not the way.
21:59And anyone in Montreal played this night out in their head.
22:09Again, fantasy is fun.
22:11Sure, it's a great story.
22:12It would be the feel-good moment of the year, but this is reality.
22:15This is the reality we live in, the reality the WWE Universe exists in,
22:19and that is this Roman Reigns award.
22:22Yeah, but Sami Zayn, who's got a tremendous amount of heart with a couple of right
22:25hands, stunning Roman momentarily.
22:28But Roman has done what we talked about earlier.
22:30He is, in effect, taking out the home field advantage for Sami Zayn in this match tonight.
22:35Zayn, lead frog, lands on his feet.
22:38Got those legs!
22:39Big clothesline by Sami!
22:40And Sami's got a little bit of life!
22:46Sami threw just about everything he had inside behind that clothesline, and just flattened the champion.
22:53Sami, Sami, Sami, Sami, Sami!
22:57Sami back to his feet, Roman as well.
23:00Sami able to block and deliver a right hand.
23:02And now Sami trying to build a little bit of momentum here.
23:05Sami!
23:09Sami takes down the champ again!
23:14Roman knocked over the top rope right in front of us!
23:21And now it's Roman who's on his heels!
23:33And now Sami Zayn starting to unload with the anger come out of him.
23:38One, two, three!
23:41One, two, three!
23:47Slowly but surely, the WWE Universe waking up.
23:53That was for his wife.
23:55Sami now up to the apron.
23:58Roman Reigns is down in the middle of the ring.
24:01Sami Zayn is gonna climb to the top rope.
24:04And Roman Reigns meets him with a right hand.
24:14Sami Zayn took just a half a second too long to celebrate, to bask in the moment,
24:19to soak in the adulation of his hometown, and the Tribal Chief made the challenger pay.
24:30Roman continues the punishment.
24:34Now from the second rope, looking to hook Sami.
24:38Sami with a shock to the ribs and another.
24:46Sami Zayn rallying!
24:50Sami Zayn's gonna try to pull out all the stomps!
24:53Sami!
24:54Subjects the power bomb!
24:56Shoulders are down for the title!
24:58My God!
24:59Holy cow!
25:00My God!
25:01My God!
25:02My God!
25:03My God!
25:06Sami's gotta stay on the offense.
25:08You're right.
25:08Sami's gotta stay on the attack.
25:10He's got the champ in trouble.
25:12Sami needs to keep his foot on the gas pedal.
25:15Keep soldiering forward.
25:18Sami Zayn looked like he might have been going for the blue thunderbomb,
25:22and Roman was able to block.
25:25A well-placed elbow to the back of the neck.
25:27And now, planning Sami Zayn!
25:30Cover by Roman to retain the championship!
25:34Sami stays in it!
25:41The back of Sami's neck,
25:43whiplashing off the mat.
25:46If you're Sami Zayn at this juncture in the match,
25:49and you look across the ring to see the Tribal Chief smiling at you,
25:53to see Roman Reigns enjoying himself, you have to know the end is near.
26:00Locked and loaded.
26:01Roman Reigns has Sami Zayn in his sights, looking to end the dream.
26:08Sami caught it!
26:09Sami!
26:09It's floater into the corner!
26:12Sami's got Roman in possession!
26:16Roman Reigns is stunned!
26:18Take your shot, Sami!
26:20Oh, Superman punch!
26:22Cover!
26:22Is it enough?
26:24Sami stays alive!
26:30Now it's Reigns taking in a moment to bask in the disdain of the WWE Universe.
26:43Roman went for the spear.
26:44He fought by Sami!
26:45Roman hit hard!
26:46Roll up for the title!
26:48Shoulders down!
26:49Two count!
26:49Almost had him again!
26:51That was too close for anyone's comfort.
26:54Zayn again!
26:55Another explosion in the corner!
26:58Is this Sami's moment?
27:00Is this Sami's time?
27:01Can Sami Zayn deliver the moment Montreal is waiting for?
27:11Mocking Roman!
27:13A lot of wise moves!
27:15Superman punch to Reigns!
27:18Do you believe in miracles?
27:20He did it!
27:22Sami's gonna do it!
27:23For the title!
27:24Hook of the leg!
27:25Reigns kicked out!
27:34But the thing now is that Roman Reigns is in trouble.
27:38Roman Reigns is scrambling.
27:41Sami Zayn has taken control of this match.
27:50Roman Reigns ducks out of the ring, rolls out to the announce table.
27:56It was a brilliant maneuver by the champion.
27:59Roman realizes he may be in deep, deep trouble.
28:03Here comes Zayn!
28:04And he got caught up in the ropes, and it allowed Roman Reigns to deliver the right
28:09hand and stop the rally.
28:12And with that one massive uppercut, you can almost feel the tides beginning
28:16to shift a little.
28:19Roman just took the wind out of Sami Zayn's sails.
28:23It allows the champion valuable time to regroup.
28:31Roman's building up speed.
28:33No.
28:34Full head of speed by Roman Reigns.
28:35No!
28:36Barricade!
28:37Sami sidestepped the champ!
28:39Sami, you gotta get him in the ring!
28:41The official now to count of five.
28:42Sami Zayn gets the champ in.
28:44Can Sami take advantage?
28:46Roman Reigns scrambles back to the corner.
28:48Misses with a Superman punch.
28:49Blue Thunderbomb!
28:52Cover for the title!
28:53Do it Sami now!
28:58And this is where Sami can't allow doubt to creep into his mind.
29:03Sami has come within a fraction of a second on multiple times of knocking off Reigns and
29:09finishing the job.
29:10Can Sami finish the job here at home?
29:20The challenger back on the attack, Roman Reigns able to block.
29:24Now into a headlock.
29:27And he drives Sami into the corner and into the official.
29:31And Dan Engler took a shot and another one.
29:35Yeah, I think Sami's head might-
29:37The kick!
29:38The champion's down!
29:39From out of nowhere!
29:41The cover on Roman!
29:42Wake up!
29:43The official's down!
29:46One, two, three, four!
29:50Sami Zayn and the championship won!
29:52One, two, three, four!
29:58That was Sami's opportunity!
30:02His moment!
30:05Now look who's here!
30:07Look at that!
30:08Jimmy Uso!
30:09Who was told to stay home by his cousin!
30:13And another super kick!
30:16Taking advantage of the official being down, Sami Zayn taken out by Jimmy Uso!
30:25And this is a damn shame!
30:27Jimmy Uso with the Uso Splash!
30:33Now the problem is there's no official.
30:34The official's still knocked out here at ringside.
30:37After the damage Sami just took-
30:38A new official!
30:39A new official!
30:39Ryan Trav's out with the count!
30:42Almost out of two and a half!
30:58What a match for the Undisputed Championship!
31:02Reigns can't believe Sami's still in it!
31:07But how in it is Sami Zayn?
31:21But he's still in it!
31:22Still got fight left!
31:24The rebellious Zayn still standing up to the champion reigns!
31:36And both men physically exhausted from this battle.
31:41You understand me?
31:42You understand me?
31:43You understand me?
31:44You understand me?
31:46You understand me?
31:46You understand me?
31:47You understand me?
31:52Sami ducked underneath, Roman missed with a Superman punch,
31:55almost ran into the official.
31:56Sami Zayn taking advantage.
31:58Sami now capitalizing on the misstep by the champion.
32:03He's gotta be careful, he doesn't get disqualified.
32:06And Reigns wisely rolling to the outside.
32:09Sami!
32:10Sami.
32:10Sami!
32:10Sami Zayn take it down.
32:11Roman reigns back in to take advantage.
32:14Now!
32:15To retain the championship.
32:17Now!
32:21For the love of God, how the hell did Sami kick out?
32:35I thought I would say.
32:40I'm trying to help you, you were nothing without me.
32:46I was helping you, I elevated you.
32:55This is how he ace me, all of you, all of you can support this coach.
33:14Sami said, no way, I'm not taking any more of this.
33:18Another official taken out, Superman Punch by Zay.
33:23Superman Punch by Roman, both men down.
33:29It is a mess out here.
33:33Two officials are out cold.
33:38The wise man providing a tool for the tribal chief.
33:45There's nobody to stop him.
33:46There's nobody to stop Roman Reigns.
33:48Officials are down.
33:50Roman's got a steel chair.
33:56Wait a minute.
33:59It is Jey Fuso.
34:13It's a diamond for him.
34:21It's either me, or it's you.
34:23The easy boss.
34:28We good all over here.
34:36We got more people.
34:38So far away from the most part.
34:53The simple From Bersens, they gotta get more.
35:13What are you waiting for?
35:16Hit him!
35:18Hit him!
35:34Sami Zayn back at his feet, my God!
35:37Sami speared Jey Uso.
35:39And Roman Reigns uses the chair to his advantage.
35:44Jey didn't pull the trigger, but Roman did, and he's wearing out Sami Zayn.
35:52.
36:09Speared to Sami.
36:12And again, no officials.
36:14Dan Angler back to his feet.
36:17Here's the count on Sami Zayn.
36:19And of all the damn ways, Reign has retained the championship.
36:25It ends like this.
36:26Your winner, and still, the undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns!
36:46Amidst the sea of heartbroken members of the WWE Universe.
36:54We may have been in Sami Zayn's house, but we exist in Roman Reigns Universe.
37:03902 days and counting.
37:07Roman Reigns makes sure that he will main event WrestleMania against Cody Rhodes for
37:15the undisputed championship.
37:17But I don't think the lessons are over yet for Sami Zayn tonight.
37:22There must be suffering.
37:26Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn, Sami Zayn.
37:29Roman wants to make sure Sami Zayn makes it no further than Montreal.
37:36.
37:46Montreal's own Kevin Owens.
37:50Sami Zayn's longtime friend and KO is coming after Jimmy Uso.
37:57.
38:04My God, taking down Roman, mounting Roman, pounded away his toe.
38:12Stoddard.
38:13.
38:19Stoddard to Jimmy.
38:21.
38:23.
38:27Kevin Owens coming back to the aid of his longtime friend.
