Every year after Eid-ul-Adha ๐, a makeshift meat market pops up on the railway tracks at Khilgaon Railgate in Dhaka. Many low-income people collect sacrificial meat and sell it here at very low prices. Others with small incomes buy it to meet their needs.
In this RRBD video, you can see meat being cut in the open, in dirty conditions. Piles of raw meat lie on the ground. There is no hygiene, and the place is crowded and chaotic.
This is risky in two ways. Unclean meat can make people sick ๐ค. And standing on active tracks can lead to serious train accidents ๐. We need safer, cleaner ways to share and buy meat.
Safety tips Don't buy meat from dirty, open places. Stay away from railway tracks ๐ซ Wash your hands ๐งผ and cook meat well.
