00:06nine people on board, officials said.
00:11Initial results show acting President Ilyana Jotova is the apparent winner of Bulgaria's presidential runoff.
00:20U.S. President Donald Trump round up his midterm campaign efforts holding rallies in Iowa and Kansas.
00:26The division sparked in Michigan.
00:30Violence broke out after largely peaceful Gen Z demonstrations in Germany on Saturday, with clashes and looting reported in several
00:37cities.
00:40Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has vowed that the rule of law will prevail over violence after a confrontation at
00:46the Constitutional Tribunal deepened a decade-long dispute over Poland's top court.
00:51In a televised address on Saturday, Tusk called Friday's event scandalous.
00:55He said judges elected by parliament had taken their oaths but were being blocked from taking up their duties.
01:02President Karol Nowrochki had tried to enter the building as police surrounded it.
01:07The dispute centers on eight new judges Nowrochki did not formally receive their oaths, while Tribunal President Bogdan Sveczkowski refused
01:15to let them take up their policies.
01:16The opposition accuses Tusk's government of a coup.
01:20The government says it is restoring judicial independence.
01:24The European Commission said it was closely monitoring the crisis.
01:28It said appointing eight new tribunal members falls within parliament's constitutional powers and that Polish authorities must ensure the court
01:36follows the constitution and EU court rulings.
01:39The European Conservatives and reformists group backed Nowrochki, accusing Tusk's government of violating the rule of law.
01:46Tusk offered no detailed plan to end the standoff, but pledged to ensure the court could function independently.
01:58The Russian President of the United States Acting President Iliana Yotov is the apparent winner of Bulgaria's presidential runoff, initial
02:04results of the vote count showed.
02:06The raise for the largely ceremonial post had pitted Yotov, an ally of Prime Minister Roman Radev, against Andrei Gyorov,
02:13the banker and former caretaker Prime Minister backed by the pro-Western opposition.
02:18Yatova gained between 57.4% and 58.2% of the vote, according to estimates from several polling
02:25institutes, well ahead of Girov, who garnered between 38.6% and 39.6%. If confirmed by official
02:34results, Yatova would become Bulgaria's first elected female head of state. Girov conceded
02:40defeat and said the results had to be accepted as they stood. Observers expect Yatova to continue
02:46Radev's policy of keeping Bulgaria on its European path, while also supporting better
02:51relations with Russia and the lifting of sanctions.
02:57Russian authorities have said a drone attack caused significant damage to an industrial
03:01site in the Nizhny Novgorod region overnight. According to Governor Gleb Nikitin, more than
03:08100 drones were destroyed in the Kostova district. He said early reports indicate no casualties.
03:16Telegram war monitoring channels say the Kostova oil refinery was targeted, but the governor
03:21has not identified the damaged facility, and the strike has not been officially confirmed.
03:26Lukoil said the refinery produces diesel and aviation fuel. Nikitin also warned that repair
03:32work could lead to temporary power cuts and reduced hot water and heating in some residential areas.
03:38The attack comes as Ukraine deals with the effects of Russian strikes on its own energy
03:43infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelensky said around 280,000 households were left without
03:49electricity, including 200,000 in the Dnipro region and more than 80,000 in the Kyiv region.
04:01Residents evacuated from the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky have arrived in the Ukrainian-held
04:07territory after a humanitarian mission and localized ceasefire. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
04:14announced this on Saturday, saying the humanitarian operation has been successfully completed.
04:21All ever-quitted Ukrainian citizens, quote, have crossed the border into Ukraine in Shenehiv Oblast,
04:28Zelensky said on X. The residents traveled by bus and plane through Russia and Belarus,
04:34following a deal brokered by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. The crossing took place under
04:40restrictions imposed by Ukrainian authorities that did not permit the disclosure of the number of evacuees.
04:47According to reports, the estimated 2,000 remaining residents were offered the choice of traveling to
04:54Ukrainian or Russian-held territory or remaining in the city. Many residents have been trapped without food,
05:00water and electricity. The truce in the southern Kherson region is seen as the most significant
05:07since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than four and a half years ago.
05:15Violence broke out after largely peaceful Gen Z demonstrations in Germany on Saturday,
05:20with clashes and looting reported in several cities. The protests included demands over rising
05:26living costs and school conditions. In Frankfurt, more than 30 people were temporarily arrested after
05:33shops were looted and police said officers were attacked with Molotov cocktails and other objects.
05:40In Berlin, police said 27 officers suffered minor injuries and almost 60 people were arrested.
05:47In Hamburg, rioters set fire to barricades and attacked officers with stones,
05:52bottles and fireworks. Around 120 people were temporarily taken into custody.
05:59In Cologne, police ended a rally after fireworks were set off and officers were attacked.
06:05One officer suffered a hand injury.
06:10Interior Minister Alexander Dobrin blamed left-wing groups and troublemakers from a migrant background for
06:16the violence. Organizers in Frankfurt distanced themselves from the unrest.
06:27U.S. President Donald Trump round up his mid-term campaign efforts on Sunday,
06:32holding rallies in Iowa and Kansas. In both states, Republicans are facing strong competition from
06:39Democratic candidates. Speaking at his rally in Iowa, Trump lashed out at Michigan Democratic Senate
06:46candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, whose national profile has been growing.
06:51That's another important election for us. We don't want to have a jihadist. We don't want to have a...
06:56Can you imagine? We'll have to put him through metal detectors in order to seat.
07:02El-Sayed fired back that if he is to go through a metal detector,
07:05Trump should sit for a lie detector. Meanwhile, in Michigan, divisions surfaced within the Democratic Party,
07:13where Congresswoman Haley Stevens broke ranks by endorsing Republican candidate Mike Rogers.
07:18The endorsement triggered backlash among Democrats, while Trump welcomed Stevens' support and suggested
07:24her to join the Republican Party. Tuesday's midterm elections are considered a referendum of Trump's
07:31second term in the White House. His approval ratings have fallen to a low point amid growing public
07:37discontent over his domestic decisions, as well as economic fallout linked to his tariffs and the war in Iran.
07:47A lee jet plummeted into a neighborhood in southern Florida, miles from U.S. President Donald Trump's
07:53resort home on Sunday, killing all nine people on board, officials said. The crash occurred near Cresthaven,
08:00a neighborhood in Palm Beach County that is less than 11 kilometers from Trump's resort home,
08:06Mar-a-Lago. Several unverified clips posted to social media depicting the deadly crash
08:11showed an aircraft nearly vertical slamming at high speed into the ground.
08:15Obviously, this was a cataclysmic plane crash. It looked like a missile going down. It left a big crater
08:22on the side of the road. I want to commend the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department,
08:27as well as the fire rescue. They were here immediately. There was a lot of debris that was
08:33spewn as a result of this crash. The plane came down near the entrance to a mobile home park,
08:40Palm Beach County Commissioner Joel Flores said, noting about 600 residents were evacuated and relocated
08:47to shelters. Storms had been reported in the area.
08:54Switzerland has formally reopened its diplomatic office in North Korea as Ignacio Cassis became the
09:01first Swiss foreign minister to visit the country since 2003. Cassis visited Pyongyang on 29 and 30
09:10October before traveling to Seoul. In a statement issued during the weekend, the Swiss foreign ministry
09:17said the trip aimed to restore direct political dialogue with Pyongyang as it looks to maintain
09:23contact with both sides of the divided peninsula. The office, which restarted operations in October,
09:30falls under the Swiss Embassy in Beijing, which remains responsible for diplomatic and consular
09:36relations with North Korea. The restoration of relations comes amid renewed military tensions in the
09:43Korean Peninsula after North Korea fired around 10 short-range ballistic missiles towards the sea last
09:51Thursday, according to South Korea's military. Switzerland helped monitor the armisties that halted
09:58fighting in the Korean War since 1953. The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations since 1974,
10:06but regular political consultations stopped after 2019. More than 40 groups paraded through Mexico City,
10:18filling the streets with colorful costumes featuring Katrinas and Skulls to celebrate the Day of the Dead.
10:26Inspired by the James Bond film Spectre, the annual event returned to the streets of Mexico City on
10:33Saturday with floats, puppets, and balloons. The parade brought Mexico City's Day of the Dead celebrations to life.
10:42I am very proud of my culture, of my traditions, and I think that we should incentivize and spread.
11:05Day of the Day of the Dead is an important festival held each year in South American countries,
11:11especially in Mexico. The origins lie with the Aztecs, an indigenous group of people who lived in the area
11:18that would become Mexico City around 2000 years ago. The festival held to celebrate the cycle of life
11:25and death takes place on 1 and 2 November, though some celebrations also take place on 31 October.
