00:00Elon Musk has been the source of constant shake-ups at Twitter since his $44 billion takeover.
00:05He began by adding the now-in-stasis Twitter Blue verification program,
00:09forcing employees to work around the clock to implement immediately.
00:12Then he fired around half of the company's staff, upwards of 3,700 workers.
00:17Now, ahead of what might be another round of layoffs,
00:20Elon Musk has issued an ultimatum to those who are left.
00:23Commit to Twitter 2.0, which involves a, quote,
00:25hardcore culture involving long hours at high intensity, or leave.
00:30CNBC reports that the document sent to remaining staff asked them to click a yes button and agree to those
00:35terms,
00:35while not doing so would result in resignation, with a severance package of three months being issued.
00:41The document began with a letter from Musk himself,
00:43saying the company is shifting to a more engineering-driven model,
00:46adding the company is at its heart, quote,
00:48a software and servers company.
00:50Musk then gave them roughly 24 hours to make their decision.
00:54California's Department of Industrial Relations has yet to comment
00:57on whether or not this ultimatum is legal in San Francisco,
01:00where Twitter is headquartered.
