second craft note on Their Brother, the Dragon Sacrifice, and the colour grade is doing something specific.
Every interior is cold — grey walls, blue window light, no warm fill. Every outdoor scene at the village edge is warmer, almost golden.
That's inverted from what you'd expect. The family home should be the warm place. Here it's the coldest set in the show.
It means you feel the relief before anyone says they're leaving, and you distrust the comfort of that house long before the plot gives you a reason.
✨ What worked for me:
- No firelight anywhere indoors. Deliberate.
- Skin tones stay neutral. Nobody is flattered by this grade.
✨ Bottom line: the house looks like a place you survive, not a place you live.
Did the grade feel wrong at first?
