second argument about The Sea God's Disguise: Fishing for Love, and this time it's about what she was allowed to know.
He never tells her who he is. Not in three years. She's living with a man whose name, history and reasons are all withheld, and the show treats that as romantic patience.
Is it though? She's making decisions about her life with incomplete information, and he's the one controlling how incomplete.
Yes, the family treated him badly. Yes, he had reasons to stay quiet. But reasons aren't consent.
He asked her for trust while giving her nothing to trust with.
✨ What worked for me:
- She asks him twice, directly. Both times he changes the subject.
- The reveal isn't a celebration scene. It's a conversation that ends badly.
✨ Bottom line: hiding who you are from someone who loves you is not humility.
Was his silence protection or control?
— GSH, guilty pleasures, well served 🥂

00:00Is that a person?
00:02He's alive?
00:04Why is he nailed to the rock?
00:06That must hurt so much.
00:08Don't worry, I'll help you.
00:41Your kindness saved me, child.
00:42In return, I'll make you the true master of these seas,
00:45and you'll never have to struggle to survive again.
00:47Really?
00:52Keep this safe.
00:53Whenever you need my help, go to the storm's throat
00:55at the far north edge of the Atlantic and sound this horn.
01:11Father, come back!
01:13You know your lungs can't take a storm like this.
01:15She's right!
01:16Who could possibly be worth risking your life for?
01:19Someone who holds the fate of this family in his hands.
01:23Wait for me on the ship.
01:25I'll go alone.
01:26No one else comes near.
01:39I'll go alone.
01:46No one else comes near.
01:51I'll go alone.
01:52I'll go alone.
02:04Oh, great Sea God, your faithful servant, Edmund Ashford, has returned once again to greet you.
02:14Edmund, 40 years was it since we last spoke. What brings you here today?
02:18My lord, my days are numbered. I fear neither of my daughters can keep this family together after I'm gone.
02:25I know I am but a humble servant, but would you grant me one final favor as a reward for
02:30my 60 years of faithful service?
02:32Would you please protect my family for three years after I'm gone?
02:42Very well. I will protect the Ashford family for three more years.
02:46After that, my duty to your family ends.
02:49By the Sea God's grace, Father will come back safe.
02:52Look! The storm stopped! That's Dad's boat!
03:09Father, who is this?
03:11As you can see, a fisherman. You can call me Magnus.
03:13A fisherman? Father, you risked your life in that storm for a fisherman?
03:20Quiet! I have an announcement. From this day forward, Magnus is going to be Adriana's husband.
03:29Father! What are you saying? You want me to marry a fisherman I've never even met?
03:33What? She's right! This is crazy!
03:35Besides, Adriana's already dating Sebastian Haverworth.
03:43This isn't up for discussion. If you want to inherit my estate and title, you'll do as I say.
03:53Fine, I'll marry him.
04:04The man before you commands the entire sea. If you can't earn his heart within the next three years, our
04:10family and its legacy will not survive.
04:12I don't know what you did to convince my father to trust you, but I'm telling you now, it won't
04:16work on me.
04:17This marriage is a formality nothing more. I will never love you.
04:26Perhaps in three years, you'll change your mind.
04:30Sure, he might be Adriana's husband, but everyone knows it's only on paper.
04:34She won't even look at him.
04:36So true. Three years and all the man's done is mop decks and catch minnows.
04:39He's basically a glory deckhand.
04:44Magnus, don't think you can just slack off. We've got a route to plan. Go count the cargo hold.
04:49Come on, lads. That beer's not going to drink itself.
04:55One of Ashford's finest. Take her down and we'll have enough coin for booze and women for months.
05:01Sharpen up, boys. Rab her!
05:11You have three seconds to leave these waters or suffer the consequences.
05:17What suicidal scully hat dares stand between me and my fortune?
05:22Do you wish for death?
05:26Three.
05:29Two.
05:29Two. You asked for this.
05:32One.
05:33Fuck you! Fire! Blow that idiot to smithereens!
05:50Full sail! Ram that bastard!
05:52Hm.
06:06A monster! It's a kraken! Run! Retreat!
06:18Magnus!
06:19Keep it down out here! We're trying to play cards!
06:22Hmm.
06:27For three years, I've protected this family in secret. I've turned storms away from their fleet. Kept sea beasts out
06:34of their path.
06:36I promise you, the Ashford family ships will sail to every continent on Earth.
06:41Only three days left. Three more days, and then my duty here is done.
06:52Magnus, Lady Adriana collapsed. It's her anemia. You need to go. Now!
07:03I hear your fisherman husband is awfully obedient. I think it's just an act so he can keep living off
07:09your family for free.
07:11Ooh, let's make a bet, Adriana. If it comes down to it, do you think he'd give his own blood
07:15for you?
07:15Now that's an idea. Ten gold? Des, he wouldn't. Doc rats are always out for themselves.
07:21Fine. Ten gold for me, too. I say he would.
07:26Elloween, is your brother-in-law actually reliable or not?
07:29Please. Magnus is completely whipped. He'd hand over his own heart if she asked. We've got this bed in the
07:36bag.
07:40Adriana, lie down, quick. Leave the rest to us.
07:55Kim, what happened to Adriana?
08:00Her anemia flared up. She needs a blood transfusion or she'll die.
08:04Take my blood. Take as much as you need.
08:09Magnus, you'll really do it?
08:17I knew it. Pay up, boys. A bet's a bet.
08:20Fuck it. Why is he so goddamn loyal?
08:26This is unbelievable! Adriana, how'd you train him?
08:33Adriana? You're... alright?
08:37Of course. Don't make such a big deal about it. They just wanted to play a little prank on you.
08:41Look at him. He's like a trained circus animal. And now I'm out ten gold coins.
08:49Make him do a few tricks for us. It'll be hilarious.
08:51Come on, have him do something. Everyone's dying for a little entertainment.
09:06You'd really let them humiliate your own husband?
09:08Honestly, Magnus. Relax. It was a joke. You don't need to make a whole thing out of it.
09:16Careful. You and my sister are married in name only.
09:19If she weren't so generous, we would have thrown you out ages ago.
09:22Forget it. Three days and the deal's over.
09:25I'll be gone and I'll have nothing more to do with this family.
09:29See what I mean? He's like a barnaker we can't get rid of.
09:34Enough, Eloise.
09:34I'm not wrong though.
09:38It's getting late. Everyone should go home.
09:42I'll go run your bath.
09:45Sis, don't bother explaining yourself to this petty loser. He's useless anyway.
09:50Eloise, he's my husband. And your brother-in-law.
09:57Ugh, gross.
10:06Drink it while it's hot. It's good for you.
10:10Miss Ashford, we're in big trouble.
10:12The fleet carrying Princess Rosalind is trapped in the Devil's Triangle.
10:15The Devil's Triangle? That water's supposed to be crawling with monsters everyone steers clear.
10:19And that ship's carrying Princess Rosalind off half the royal tesurer.
10:22We're screwed if it sinks.
10:25How could this happen?
10:26Don't worry about it, Adriana. Leave it to me.
10:29Oh, please. You're a fisherman.
10:31What exactly are you going to do out there besides drown?
10:33Wave that rusty old spear at a sea monster?
10:36Enough, Magnus. We don't have time for this now.
10:50Hey, Mr. Magnus. Where are you going?
10:55Just a quick trip to the Devil's Triangle.
10:57You should go home before your mother gets worried.
11:01The Devil's Triangle?
11:10Andriana! This is it. Remember Sebastian?
11:12He's a general in the Royal Knave now. He commands the entire coastal fleet.
11:16He's the only one who can pull off a rescue out there.
11:18Eloise. I'm already married.
11:20Sister! Sebastian is the only one who can fix this.
11:24Don't worry. We've kept in touch all this time.
11:26He's never stopped thinking about you.
11:27Just one word from you and he'll help us.
11:30I'll write. I'll write to him now.
11:32What the fuck?
11:34What the fuck?
11:44Dammit, why are they auditing the war funds now?
11:47Where the hell am I supposed to find the money to cover everything I took?
11:51General, a letter for you. From the Ashford House.
12:03Well, isn't this perfect?
12:05Just when I needed money to cover my tracks, the solution walks right through my door.
12:10So she's still hung up on me, is she?
12:13Perfect. Handling her crisis handles mine, and I'll get her back in the process.
12:21Am I going to die here?
12:36You should have stayed in your abyss. Instead you came all this way just to die.
12:44We'll kill you to die.
12:54You don't...
12:56... you don't have to die.
12:56You have to die.
12:59I'm trying to die!
13:00No, the dead!
13:17Please wait
13:17May I ask your name
13:19Magnus
13:24Call me Rosalind
13:25I am the princess of the kingdom of Kassiria
13:28You saved my life
13:29If you'll have me, I would gladly marry you
13:33I'm honored princess, but I'm already married
13:46Princess, I failed to protect you
13:48I await your punishment
13:50You're forgiven
13:51Write to my father at once
13:53I want to know everything there is to know about Magnus
13:55The hero who saved me
13:57Find him and bring him to me yourself
14:07Don't worry
14:08Sebastian said he'll help us
14:15My lady
14:15Lord Sebastian has arrived
14:27Adriana
14:28I came as soon as I got your letter
14:31Don't worry
14:31Nothing will happen to your fleet as long as I'm there
14:36Oh
14:38Thank you
14:40I'm sorry for the trouble
14:41I'll make sure you're well compensated when this is over
14:47Adriana
14:47Adriana
14:48After all these years, I still love you
14:54This shop's honey cake is Adriana's favorite
15:05This isn't what you think
15:07Sebastian and I haven't seen each other in years
15:09This is just courtesy
15:11This is just courtesy
15:11Adriana
15:12Is this the fisherman your father married you off to?
15:15Who is he?
15:16Why was he holding you?
15:18Listen, it's just a misunderstanding
15:21Misunderstanding?
15:22Please
15:22You're the one who doesn't belong here
15:24If you'd never shown up
15:25My sister and Sebastian would already be married and living a perfect life
15:32Hello
15:32I'm Sebastian
15:33General of the Royal Navy
15:35Pleasure to meet you
15:37Sebastian commands the Royal Navy
15:39The most powerful force Kassiria has
15:41He's ten times the man you'll ever be
15:43So you better show some respect
15:46Magnus
15:46He's just an old friend
15:47Play nice
15:52Oh
15:53Sorry, you haven't washed your hands, have you?
15:55I'm a bit of a German folk
15:57Forgive me
16:00Wonderful news, my lady
16:02The fleet made it back
16:03Safe and sound
16:04Princess Rosaland is safe
16:05And nothing on the ships was damaged
16:07Yay!
16:08See?
16:09I told you Sebastian would come through
16:10Unlike some people
16:12Who are all talk
16:13And no action
16:15Thank you
16:16If you hadn't sent the Navy
16:18My fleet would never have made it home
16:19What?
16:20The fleet actually escaped the triangle?
16:22Did they get lucky or something?
16:24Have you lost your mind?
16:26No one has ever come out of the Devil's Triangle alive
16:28And you want to send our Navy in there?
16:32Unless the Sea God himself intervenes
16:34The crew on those ships are dead already
16:36There's no other possibility
16:39It was nothing
16:39I sent our finest deep sea fleet as soon as I got your letter
16:42Thank goodness we weren't too late
16:43Glad I could help
16:44The Navy didn't save the fleet
16:46No mortal can set foot in the Devil's Triangle and live
16:48Shut up, Magnus
16:50Oh, so now you're calling Sebastian a liar?
16:53Please, tell us
16:53Who else could have possibly saved them?
16:55You're right
16:56It was me
16:58Give me a break
16:59You're lying through your teeth just to steal Sebastian's thunder
17:02Look in the mirror
17:03You're not that impressive
17:05Magnus
17:06Stop it
17:07Apologize to Sebastian
17:08Eh, it's fine
17:09He's just worried about the fleet, that's all
17:14Sebastian, it's getting late
17:16You must be exhausted from the ride
17:18Stay at the manor tonight
17:20You'll take the sudge
17:22Clear out your room for Sebastian
17:23He's our guest of honor
17:25What?
17:27Forget it
17:28I'm leaving tomorrow anyway
17:29Whoever lives in that room afterward is none of my concern
17:35Didn't expect you to know your place that well
17:38You should know by now that you were never good enough for Adriana
17:41She was never meant to be a fisherman's wife
17:43Don't worry though
17:44I'll take very good care of her for you
17:57The sea wind left Adriana with a lasting affliction
18:00Her skin blisters and fress whenever it touches her
18:04For three years I've been tearing out my scales with my own hands brewing this for her
18:13Keeping her healthy and beautiful
18:19I'll protect her one last time
18:22After that, we'll owe each other nothing
18:33Come in
18:34Just leave the stoop by the bed
18:50What are you doing here?
18:54Oh, relax Adriana
18:56This pillow's too stiff to sleep on
18:58Thought I'd trade it for a softer one
19:00Turn around, I'm getting dressed
19:05Let go of me, Sebastian
19:08I'm married
19:09Don't do this
19:12Eloise told me everything
19:14You've been married for three years
19:15But never once shared a bed with him
19:17Admit it, Adriana
19:18There's no room for him in your heart
19:21Only me
19:24Fine
19:25I admit it
19:26I never forgot you
19:51I know you still have feelings for me
19:56So stop holding back
19:58So stop holding back and just follow your heart
20:10Sebastian, you've got this all wrong
20:12I have a husband
20:19He's just your husband on paper, nothing more
20:21Stop lying to yourself, Adriana
20:23You want me
20:24No
20:25No
20:27Sebastian
20:28You can't do this
20:29I'm married
20:30Let me go
20:33So what if you're married?
20:35He's worthless
20:36You need a real man
20:38Let me go
20:50Get your hands off my wife
20:52I'll kill you
21:04Adriana
21:06Why?
21:09I didn't mean to
21:11You're the one who went after Sebastian
21:17Sebastian
21:17Are you alright?
21:21I'm fine
21:22I'm fine
21:26Magnus
21:28Apologize to Mr. Haververd
21:29Now
21:30You want me to apologize?
21:32He did that to you
21:33And you're still protecting him?
21:36I said apologize
21:37Now
21:40I refuse
21:46I'm sorry
21:46I'm sorry Adriana
21:48Seeing you again
21:49I lost myself for a moment
21:51Let's sit
21:52Talk this through
21:56No need
21:58I think you need to cool off first
22:09Damn it
22:19Three years
22:20And this is all I get to keep
22:22My first birthday
22:23In this family
22:35Here
22:36This is yours now
22:37Happy birthday
22:40Thank you
22:40I'm exhausted
22:41Gonna go to bed
22:43The things I once treasured
22:45Now
22:46None of it really matters anymore
22:50Morning Magnus
22:51What are you up to?
22:55Here Jack
22:57This is yours now
22:58No
22:58I can't take this
23:03None of it matters anymore
23:05I should just let it go
23:08Besides
23:10I'll be leaving soon
23:11You're leaving?
23:12Where?
23:17I know you're upset
23:18I shouldn't have hit you last night
23:20But can't you cut me some slack
23:22And stop sulking about it?
23:25I'm not sulking
23:28Come on
23:29You started it
23:30I only asked you to apologize
23:32That bastard was assaulting you
23:34I did that to protect you
23:36You?
23:37Protect me?
23:40Where were you
23:41When I was carving out trade routes?
23:43When the fleet was in danger?
23:44When this family faced ruin?
23:45Where were you?
23:46And now you attack the man who saved us
23:48And call that protecting me
23:50Adriana
23:51You have never once seen me
23:53Ever
23:57After father died
23:58I carried this whole business myself
24:01I sailed every route
24:03Dealt with every flak
24:04And built this family
24:05To what it is today
24:06What exactly have you done
24:08Besides mop decks
24:09Mend ropes
24:10And make soup nobody needed?
24:14Never mind
24:14Today is the last day
24:16My duty is done
24:18It's time to tell you the truth
24:20You think every Ashford ship
24:21Has sailed clear of pirates
24:23All these years
24:24Because your routes were just that good?
24:25Of course
24:26Let me tell you
24:28None of it was ever your doing
24:30I have been standing between you
24:32And every disaster
24:33This sea could throw at you
24:34In secret
24:35What did you just say?
24:43I am so disappointed in you
24:47I thought you were just jealous
24:49I never imagined you were this vain
24:52Do you know what I need?
24:53A man who shields me from the storm
24:56Not a loser who shows up after the fact
24:59To steal credit
24:59Is that how you see me?
25:02How you've always seen me?
25:07Listen
25:08Sebastian helped us this time
25:10And we'll need the Navy's protection going forward
25:13Come with me
25:14Ask for forgiveness
25:15And I can forget what happened last night
25:19No
25:20I won't do it
25:22This isn't a negotiation
25:24I'm warning you
25:26Apologize
25:27Or we're getting a divorce
25:30Do you think you actually matter here?
25:33If it weren't for my father's will
25:35I'd replace you
25:37In a heartbeat
25:41So
25:42You're telling me you feel trapped by this marriage
25:47Fine
25:47If that's the case
25:51Then I'll give you your freedom
25:55We're getting a divorce
