00:05Hey guys, it's Tara from Refinery29, and I'm here with Bethany Brill, who's a hair and
00:09makeup artist.
00:10And so a trend that we've been seeing lately in hair is hairstylists actually braiding fabric
00:15into the braids, so could you maybe show us how to do that?
00:18Yeah, I love the way that that looks in a Milkmaid style braid, so we'll show you how
00:23to do it today.
00:24We're going to start with six shreds of fabric about the length of your hair, a comb for
00:29parting, clear elastics that are fairly strong, pins, a brush, and a spray bottle.
00:36So we're going to start by wetting the hair down.
00:39Not sopping wet, but we're just going to make it damp.
00:43This is going to make it easier to braid with and keep all the frizz out.
00:49So now we're going to brush in the water, just so that you don't have any knots while you're
00:54braiding.
00:54Now we're going to do a center part and continue the part all the way down the back of the
00:59head.
01:01We'll gather our hair into a ponytail, adding the fabric behind, and tie it all together.
01:15Now we're going to section each ponytail into three sections, including one piece of fabric
01:21in each section, braid as usual, intertwining the fabric.
01:37When you get to the end of the hair, finish with an elastic.
01:41Now the extra fabric that's at the ends, we're just going to trim off.
01:44Be careful not to cut your ends.
01:49Now we're going to bring the braid up around the head, like a headband, using pins to secure
01:56it.
02:06So now you're going to take the ends and kind of tuck it under the other end.
02:11Depending on the length of the hair, you just want to tuck it so it looks like a seamless
02:15braid.
02:25So here we are with our completed woven milkmaid braid.
