00:00For us, we found our people. When we met in our 20s and 30s, I feel like we were so
00:06lucky that Saturday Night Live was the great unifier for us. And when you're doing what you love and something
00:11that is a part of you and you're able to find people doing that simultaneously, that's like a lifelong family.
00:20If you find the right people, I have deep friends from when I was your age that I can call
00:27and we will have not spoken for five years and immediately be in a comfortable level.
00:33Pick it up right away. So every so often you do need to nurture and see that person in their
00:39eyes and not a FaceTime. You need to touch them and really touch them.
00:43And hold and make them hard. And just give them a good shake. Love me. And criticize them. And hold
00:50them tight and yell at them. And scare them a little.
00:52But I think it's important to find people that unconditionally love you just like in relationships. It's the same thing
01:00with friendships.
01:00Along with your parents, your work, your relationship, your children. It's designating time and whatever those little efforts are that
01:09you can make in a regular way.
01:10It doesn't mean that you have to make yourself more pressured, but deciding that it's a priority.
01:15But also, I think a lot of people have those friendships where you could go for a year without talking
01:20to someone and then you pick a phone and it's like that.
01:22So I don't see it as really like work. I get what you mean though. In terms of like doing
01:25a trip or something, or actually blocking out time and prioritizing the time.
01:30But that friendships are just as important as this, that and the other.
01:33In Hollywood, they actually have a tendency to paint older men as these like sex icons. And they always put
01:39women in this mother, grandma, you know, crazy aunt kind of role.
01:43How are movies like Wine Country helping women just break out of that silly old box?
01:48Well, can I ask you, how do you think it is? Because unlike us, you've been born into a much
01:54different world.
01:54And women like you are really inspiring to me because you see the world, you just don't take things...
02:02As a given.
02:03As a given. Exactly right.
02:05So how do you, and not to put it back on you, but how do you think it addresses that?
02:09Because I'd be curious what you think.
02:10I personally felt really connected to it because I have a single mom. So seeing your character have that whole,
02:16you know, divorce situation, but still really pushing through it, not really vibing with her work.
02:22It's very personal connection for me. So I love seeing that in movies because I'm like, she's a real ass
02:27person.
02:28So authenticity is really important, especially for the younger generation that can see through it.
02:33And so that's what we try to do is we try to show real complicated people that make mistakes, complex,
02:38and don't have all the answers.
02:39I think women, young or old, relate to that.
02:42I keep talking about how much I love Paula Pell in the movie.
02:46Oftentimes, you know, she's really funny in these roles. She'll play like a wacky neighbor or a teacher or something.
02:51And she gets to play closest to herself in this movie that she ever has. She plays a, like, gorgeous,
02:57sexy, gay woman.
02:59Confident woman. That's what exists more than, you know, the wacky lady with like a sideways bun.
03:06Spirit of being here in Napa, they say that one gets better with age. What are some things that got
03:10better for you ladies with age?
03:11You don't care as much as things, about things that used to be like so important to you and you
03:16just chill out a lot.
03:17It's almost like a lens coming into focus of what's actually important to you and what you can kind of
03:22like put on the back burner.
03:25My relationship with my mother has gotten better with age. I feel like the struggles that I bothered with when
03:29I was younger, even your age, I don't bother with anymore.
03:32I just appreciate her now and I empathize tremendously with what it must have been like for her.
03:36I love being her friend as she gets older.
03:40I love being her friend as she gets older.
03:41I love being her friend.
03:41I know she loves the depression right now.
03:41A little girl is so sexy.
03:41She's a black girl is so beautiful.
