00:00I'm determined to go up and on my way up and I'm bringing as many women as I can with
00:05me.
00:06Hi, I'm Freddie Harrell, London-based French woman.
00:09I'm also the founder of Big Hair No Care, a brand of premium afro hair extensions.
00:21For years people were always saying, Freddie, my God, your hair, and I was like, it's not online.
00:25Okay, where can I get it?
00:26So we started as an online shop, just something as a hobby, and then people really took interest.
00:41Black women, we go extra for our hair, catch flights, we go there and spend fortunes on this weave.
00:46We joke about this, but it needs to stop.
00:48We already have to do, like to work twice harder to be noticed.
00:52If you want to give yourself the opportunity to really craft a better life, one of the places to start
00:57is maybe not spend a fortune on your hair.
01:05I've had natural hair for, I'm not sure, I would say maybe eight years.
01:10So relaxers, they came into my life, I was maybe like eight.
01:12Every couple of months you do your roots and you just don't have curly hair, you just have straight hair.
01:19For me at the beginning to really rock my natural hair was much more of a statement.
01:25Now it's just a part of me and that's what it should have been this whole time.
01:29Just like that, with this afro, everything, everything fell into place.
01:38I was born in the 93.
01:40I think the 93 is maybe the roughest department.
01:44I think a lot of people wouldn't have bet on how far I've gotten.
01:49Bringing back Big Hair No Care to Paris in March, where I used to hang out all the time as
01:55a teenager, this was major.
01:58I thought about my younger self a lot.
02:00You know I was beaming the whole time, I was like oh my god, she would have been so proud,
02:05she would have been so happy.
02:12We really have a strong message about edges.
02:15Keep them safe.
02:17We're anti-glue, anti-sewing, anti-gel, anti-whatever.
02:23You just leave your edges out and you keep them safe.
02:26At the moment we have two textures.
02:27There's the Zero Drama Queen, which is like the full cotton candy afro.
02:33And then we have the No Stress Princess, which is like the blown out version.
02:36So straight but not too straight.
02:38Like natural hair that you would have blown out.
02:39We have a natural shade, a dark brown shade.
02:42And this is our first ombre shade.
02:44In both textures we have clippings and we have lace front wigs.
02:48We have extra combs.
02:49We don't want you to spend too much time, spend too much money or to just spend trying to have
02:55skills around hair that you don't want to develop because you're doing other things.
03:06When people ask me about taking the leap, this is when I feel like a fraud again.
03:11Well you would hear me saying I feel like a fraud a lot.
03:13We did like two weeks of pre-sales initially to learn so I wouldn't have to borrow money or anything.
03:20You learn on the go.
03:22You have an idea, trust yourself.
03:24Trust those hunches, trust your gut.
03:26Go for it, do the research, show up, do the work.
03:29Talk to people, ask questions.
03:31Get out of your comfort zone.
03:33Get out of your shyness.
03:34And just like you owe it to yourself to just dig deeper into what it is that would make you
03:40happy and more fulfilled.
03:42And then you just bring it out because you have nothing to lose really, do you?
