00:00I first heard of Heifer International at a party in LA.
00:04They were the only party that had live animals on the red carpet, I remember.
00:07And I said, well, that's a draw.
00:09I started talking to my friend Rachel and I said, what are all these animals?
00:13She said, they're here for Heifer International.
00:15We never heard of them.
00:16When I started to hear what the initiative was and the intention for Heifer International,
00:23it really piqued my ear.
00:24And I thought, that's amazing.
00:26It's this organization that instead of giving, you know, like the traditional financial loan,
00:32instead they offer different things depending on the region.
00:35Cattle, cows, heifers, goats, chickens, where they will loan them to an underserved area
00:44to learn first how to care for livestock because a lot of them have none to speak of.
00:50It felt like it was an organization that was trying to introduce resources and opportunities
00:55to a community of people so that they could save themselves.
00:59They're able to acquire skills that will sustain them for as long as they want to participate
01:05in rearing cows, growing mushrooms, milking and selling the milk that they are able to produce,
01:14have chickens, you know, sell seeds.
01:16And that's amazing because what you're giving somebody is an opportunity to take their skills
01:20and to thrive rather than just survive.
01:23When you give somebody a hand up, you teach somebody a trade,
01:27you show them the door and how to go out, right?
01:32They're able to come up with a way of taking care of themselves for long after you're gone.
01:39And then they can take that trade and pass it on to their children.
01:42And they can support themselves long after you're gone.
01:47What's remarkable about Heifer is a lot of the people who sign up for it are women.
01:54My most inspiring person I met was this woman named Grace.
02:01She's a widow with four children who for some that might be a situation where they'd be knocked out,
02:09left to wither on the vine.
02:12Instead, she found Heifer International and now went from when I met her two years ago,
02:19she had 20 cows.
02:21She now has 40.
02:22Not only that, she has a plantation.
02:25She has every single thing, you know, in the world
02:29and is now a woman who has gone from being a widow and mother of four
02:33to now sending her children to school.
02:48I got an ambassadorship for Heifer International.
02:54This past trip, which was very touching.
02:59I felt humbled having not been an ambassador to becoming one this time around.
03:07And it's not a responsibility I take lightly.
03:10I just want to bring as many voices in.
03:13I want to bring as much excitement in as possible for people to really jump on board
03:17and realize, wow, I can change a life too.
03:20I think a lot of times people are always wondering how they can help.
03:23Go to their website.
03:25You can see for such a small price what a chicken, a cow, and a goat can do to not
03:33save a life, change a life.
03:38The name of the Jews may fall.
03:38It is a party with also a shepherd.
03:40I tell you you guys, stay with them your power.
03:41I have a leader in their life.
03:41I tell you who is, let's get my fleas or a man.
03:41You
