00:00What's up guys? I'm Ally and this is Beauty in a Snap.
00:04So guys, Halloween is right around the corner and it's my favorite holiday of all time
00:08because I love dressing up in different costumes.
00:11And one way that I really like to amp up my costume is by adding special effects makeup.
00:16So today we're going to give you some tips and tricks and some little beauty hacks
00:20so that you can really have some great makeup for Halloween.
00:24Today I'm going to be doing a mermaid look, so let's get started.
00:27So I'm actually just going to start by sweeping a light blue right across my eyelids.
00:34I have this really awesome sort of turquoise-y blue color and I love this for a mermaid look.
00:42And I'm going to use the same color and just go underneath my eye as well.
00:47Cool!
00:47And so just to give it a little bit more depth, I'm going to put a darker blue on the
00:51corners of my eyes.
00:52And next, a greenish-blue eyeliner.
00:56It has some sparkle in it, which is so nice for a costumey makeup look.
01:00I'm just going to go in with my regular mascara.
01:04So next, I'm using a light blue again, which I started out with on my eyes.
01:10And I actually really like how just those two colors came out, so I'm going to stick with those for
01:15now.
01:16And I'm going to move on to the fun part, which is sort of the special effects part of this
01:21tutorial.
01:22So I've already started going in with some eyelash glue.
01:25And this is just duo eyelash glue.
01:28You can get it at any drugstore.
01:29And this I picked up from a craft store.
01:32It's like these little chunks of cellophane.
01:35And it has a really cool effect on your face because it almost gives you that scaly look for a
01:41mermaid.
01:42I am going to use some glitter just to make this even more fun.
01:47I just want to be sparkly on Halloween.
01:50It's like my best excuse for putting on all the glitter I can.
01:54We're going to add some teeny tiny shells just to really pull together that mermaid look.
02:01And again, we're going to use eyelash glue, and they should stick pretty well.
02:05So my last step is just going to be for the lips.
02:08And I just want to do a really glossy lip so it's almost like you're just out of the water.
02:14All right, guys.
02:14There you have it.
02:15This is my mermaid makeup look.
02:22Hey, guys.
02:22It's Ashley.
02:23Today we're doing Halloween special effects makeup, and I chose to do a creepy killer clown look.
02:27Let's get started.
02:28We're going to start with just like a beauty eye at first.
02:30I want to start with more like burgundies, purples, and blacks and build up into that.
02:35The beauty part is done, and we'll start working on the goriness.
02:38I use eyelash glue as an adhesive onto the skin, just using the back of a Q-tip.
02:44And you just kind of want to put it in a little triangle.
02:47You take just normal tissue and cut it.
02:50You can just stick it right on.
02:52And then you want to use liquid latex.
02:54So the liquid latex just kind of acts like a second skin, and you just build up the layers.
02:58So for this top one, I'm going to do a piece of skin that looks like it's ripped and pulled
03:02back.
03:03So I'm going to create a different kind of wound.
03:05You just pull a little bit of cotton from a cotton ball.
03:08And this is called Ben Nye Nose and Scar Wax.
03:10I literally just use clay sculpting tools from Michaels or AC Moore.
03:15You want a nice curved edge so that you can blend it into your skin.
03:19It also helps to scoop out the product.
03:21And you just kind of want to flatten it up a little bit so the edges are a little wrinkly.
03:26And put it onto your face.
03:28And then use the tool to just blend it onto your face.
03:32And once you have it to where you actually like it, you just seal it with the liquid latex again.
03:36Now that these two are dry, we're going to create three layers.
03:39So I'm going to add two more layers to these guys.
03:41Now once it's actually dry, you can start doing the paint.
03:43What I like to start with is just covering myself with foundation just so it looks like
03:48it's my actual skin.
03:49So for this eye, I decided that I wanted to do more of a slit look.
03:53So I've tried to keep a little pocket of the tissue near my eyelid a little bit further
03:58away so that I could rip it away.
04:00So you can use tweezers and just kind of pull.
04:03So now it's time to paint.
04:04I like to use Makeup Forever's Professional Palette.
04:07It will just kind of go underneath the skin.
04:10So the best way to make these wounds pop is to actually use a darker shade around it
04:14to blend it into your skin.
04:15So now that the painting's done, I really just want to amp up my eye look by adding fake eyelashes
04:19and going in and deepening the look a little bit.
04:22For the nose, you just kind of draw a little circle.
04:24I like to get a little bit of the nostrils too just so it's not like a cute little button
04:27nose.
04:28So just take the darkest lip pencil you can find.
04:31And I like to start in the middle and then point up and then you're going to just wing it
04:34out.
04:36Going in with this fake blood, so just kind of where you put in the red and the black in
04:39the wounds,
04:40it's the same thing.
04:40You're just going to dot in at first.
04:42So now that you're a killer clown, you can have fun creeping around on Halloween.
04:51I hope that you have fun experimenting with some of these tips at home and we'll see you next time.
04:56Thanks so much for watching.
