The people of NYC gathered on November 12th, 2016 to protest the President-elect Donald Trump.
Transcript
00:09The protest is really underway.
00:11There's a lot of people pressed up against the front of the barricade.
00:14There are so many people coming up from downtown.
00:17And like you can assume, this is not just about Trump.
00:20This is very much about all of the issues that have risen up this election period.
00:24We're talking civil rights, women's rights, LGBTQ rights.
00:28It's very animated here and it's very tense because there are a lot of people out that are very angry
00:32for not being heard the first time and certainly feeling like their voices are not being heard right now.
00:37I'm standing united with everyone else against Trump, against his hate, for people of color, for Muslims, for immigrants, for
00:44women.
00:45We're just not going to stand for it.
00:47This is just the beginning of it. We're going to be here as long as he's in office.
00:49Let us march! Let us march! Let us march! Let us march!
00:54The only thing separating the protesters and the NYPD is a single barricade.
00:58They're ready to make arrests as soon as people cross over the barricade.
01:02The protesters clearly want to keep on marching.
01:05They keep chanting, like, march on.
01:06They're not letting anyone get close to the Trump Tower.
01:09It looks like protesters aren't going to have that.
01:11Some of them are getting very antsy and want to make moves.
01:17Racist, sexist, anti-gay! Donald Trump, go away!
01:20My body, my choice! Her body, her choice!
01:24Democracy requires participation.
01:26So maybe these are at least all concepts we can unite behind.
01:29Like, love Trump's hate, black lives matter, Muslims' lives matter.
01:33And the list goes on.
01:34Go justice! Go peace! Go justice! Go peace!
01:38Mr. Trump, if you're listening, I am not a fan of yours.
01:42But you can do something for black people that the Democrats haven't done.
01:46You can give us justice.
01:48You can stand up and say that black lives matter.
01:51Pass legislation to protect us from the police.
01:55Hands up, don't shoot! Hands up, don't shoot!
01:58People united will never be defeated!
02:01So the chant that is rising above all the others is,
02:04every day for four years, it's clear that they're sending a message to Trump,
02:07to the president elect, that this doesn't stop here.
02:10This is going to continue.
02:12People are going to yell, to be heard, to have their rights heard,
02:15and to be respected.
02:19Donald Trump got to go! Hey hey, ho ho!
02:22Donald Trump has got to go, hey hey, ho ho!
02:26Donald Trump has got to go, hey hey, ho ho!
02:29Donald Trump is capital!
