00:13We were just walking and I'm here to try to find a bookstore and I just happened to see it.
00:18I honestly didn't know what to make of it.
00:19Well it's funny because I actually first saw it on a friend's Instagram who lives around the corner
00:25wondering oh what's that and then the next day I was here and I was like oh there's that cross
00:30she posted.
00:31I really didn't think about it. I thought it was just connected to Easter and someone kind of making a
00:36religious expression
00:37but now hearing that it's kind of turning into a neighborhood art project that I'd like to think it's a
00:44symbol of peace and unity.
00:46Perhaps we came downstairs and we were just gonna go get some food.
00:50We were walking out and we saw it and we were like oh that's really weird.
00:55We didn't know where it came from and it was just really intimidating.
00:59We weren't sure if it was supposed to be sending some sort of message or not.
01:04When it got painted there were a bunch of people out in the street and everyone got together.
01:09The neighborhood came together and that was really great so it feels more like our neighborhood again.
01:23I think there's a big historical tie. It's a lot of kind of older gay gentlemen that have been in
01:31the city for a long time.
01:32You sit at bars and you like Julius and pieces and you can see communities that have been kind of
01:38around for many decades and really kind of feel the history.
01:42I only just found out about the colourful cross this morning.
01:46To put it in an area like this, very close to the stone wall, it's an iconic symbol for gay
01:50culture.
01:51To put it on gay street, they probably had some intention there.
02:06I like the fact that they turned it around and made that positive for them.
02:10I feel like people should love who they want to love.
02:13I think it is beautiful that they changed it. They made it like an art. They turned it into a
02:17positive meaning.
02:18I think probably the initial intent is kind of negated now that this beautiful thing has happened.
