00:00Being the first in my family to get a college education means breaking
00:04boundaries. My name is Heather Marrero and I'm a software engineer at JPMorgan
00:08Chase. I was getting a degree in art and it didn't feel right. TechConnect was
00:13the right program for me because it was made to afford opportunities to people
00:18in non-computer science majors. I thought that you had to be a wizard at
00:24mathematics in order to be a software engineer. I felt like an engineer and I
00:28was just in the process of learning how to code. The creativity that I bring from
00:32my artistic background enables me to make creative solutions on the day-to-day.
00:36Your diverse background is not a weakness, it is a strength.
