00:12Hi, I'm Connie. I'm the fashion features director at Refinery29. As much as I love
00:16getting dressed in the morning, it can be sort of a burden. I challenged myself to
00:21wear the exact same outfit for the 31-day uniform. Recently, I became really interested in the
00:30idea of decision fatigue. Exhaustion and reduced decision-making skills caused by the process of
00:36making lots of choices. If you take away the small decisions that you make every single day in your
00:41life, it frees you up to be more creative and productive in other areas. In a wind tour,
00:46basically wears the same thing, like a floral shift dress and mules or slingbacks. Karl Lagerfeld
00:52wears the same thing every single day. So I went into my closet and I looked at what I had
00:57the most
00:57of. What is like a Halloween costume version of Connie? What says Connie isn't ridiculous. I'm a
01:08little bit nervous, but really excited that I never have to think about this again for the next month.
01:16I know that you're wearing the same thing every single day, but I think that like I always find
01:20something new to like about it. Doing this was supposed to be that you're a more productive and a
01:29more creative person. I call bullshit on that. Like I've been like deprived and I'm hungry for like
01:37variation and change. I had to deviate twice because I was going to events where I could not wear this
01:43outfit without being so, so embarrassed. I have worn this outfit every single day. I hate it.
02:01Pros, my mornings were insanely quick. Also traveling was a piece of cake. I didn't take anything in my
02:09carry-on suitcase. Number three, I had a really acute sense of my body since I was wearing the same
02:14clothes every single day. So for cons, even though a lot of people didn't notice, some people did and
02:20those situations were very mortified to say the least. I treat getting dressed as a creative outlet
02:25in the morning and because I didn't have that thing to jumpstart my brain, I actually came to work
02:29feeling really, really tired. And number three, I started fetishizing and fantasizing clothes in a
02:36really unhealthy way. And I actually shopped a lot more than I usually do, which was not so good.
02:43My takeaway, clothes are really important to me. I actually consider this 31 day uniform a fast.
02:50So at the very end of it, you know, I, you know, rekindled my love for everything I have in
02:55my closet
02:56and like the endorphins that were going on for the first time, like when I stepped into my closet to
03:00get
03:00dressed in the morning, which is like nothing I had ever felt before. It was like being on drugs,
03:04which is so strange, actually.
